 Music and Color

Like music, color has a long history of theoretical, creative and practical applications concerning its effect on our emotions, as well as on our physical and spiritual well-being. In the Music and Color section of the Science of Sound, we’ll look at approaches from painters like Wassily Kandinsky who drew on music for developing his theories of color, and from musicians like Alexander Scriabin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Shoenberg, and others who experimented with color-tonal associations.
